less paper & more other

On the ground: a pink foam shape painted & a shaped piece of plywood with pastel drawing.
On the shelf: 2 shaped pieces of curved & bent fiberglassed plywood with handmade paper glued on.
On the wall: The object in the upper left is painted cardboard & pink foam with paint & pastel wrapped in blue fiberglass cast wrap. The 2 rounded volumes on the right were cast from poly-filled fabric forms. The middle top object is a pink foam construction wrapped in handmade paper & paint. The last object is pink foam with handmade paper, paint & pastel.

These are some of the sturdier objects we’ve made. They’re used like legs or supports to help hold up other, often, flimsier objects.

the flip sides

An earlier version of an object in the photos above showing a blaze of kozo. Not sure why we moved on from this look.

We made the foam form to be seen frontally as tumbling squares & from the side as tumbling blocks.

On the ground: a plywood shape with spray paint & pastel.
On the shelf: The curvy object to the left is fiberglassed bent plywood with scraps of an etching & pink t-shirt. We added a loop of bamboo to give the object greater versatility to hang from, connect to or hold other objects. See next caption for other object description.
On the wall- clockwise upper left: bent plywood wrapped with abaca papers, foam board shape with paper & paint, length of heavy fencing wire wrapped with paper, fabric & plaster casting wrap, plywood shape with handmade paper, pulp painting & blue fabric & middle left, blue painted foam board attached to paper wrapped wood slat.

On the shelf: The right object is 2 bent shapes of plywood with handmade paper attached together with blue fiberglass cast tape. The plywood shapes are attached to a long strip of plywood wrapped in grey duct tape and ornamented with strips of bicycle inner-tube.

center on wall: paper wrapped foam board construction (about 4’ across)
other objects on wall (l to r): metal barn siding shape w/ spray paint, plywood shape with handmade paper attached, bent plywood with abaca strap under tension, (below) plywood shape with handmade paper & paint, etching fragment

floor: bent plywood shapes w/ paint & handmade paper.
on wall upper right: bent plywood wrapped in abaca strap

We use these as supports for other objects being use. Some are hollow. Materials usually include handmade paper as well as fiberglass, wire, plaster cast mesh, fabric, paint, pastel among other things.
